Chilton Medical Center, a member of Atlantic Health System, is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Care Practitioner for the Respiratory Therapy unit. Shift varies.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs advanced skills as outlined in specific unit based team criteria.
  • Safety Utilizes Standard Precautions as well as specific precautions as identified by the Infection Control Department.
  • Manages and operates equipment according to manufacturers specifications and departmental procedures safely and correctly, specific to the patient s needs.
  • Possesses knowledge of assembly/disassembly of equipment, inspects, tests respiratory equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and effectively.
  • Seeks orientation, assistance and/or direction from appropriate individuals prior to implementing unfamiliar procedures.
  • Adheres to patient safety goals as outlined in AHS policies.
  • Assesses the need to change disposable respiratory equipment, e. G. ventilator circuit, nebulizers, oxygen tubing etc. and monitors supply levels as per department s infection control policy.
  • Possesses and applies knowledge of actions, indications, contraindications, side effects, etc. of all respiratory medications. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Tailors patient care plan according to patients needs. Includes patient s family in teaching as appropriate.
  • Recommends therapy for home care and educates patient/family on therapy.
  • Keeps current on departmental policies and procedures and age specific therapies.
  • Mentors, orients and/or educates new employees, team members and students.
  • Attends educational in-services to maintain professional competency.
  • Stays current by seeking out opportunities for continuing education.
  • Completes mandatory competencies and educational requirements by the scheduled deadlines.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation via the respiratory information system of order history, results of therapy and patient charges.
  • Ensures timely documentation of Medication Administration Record and Interdisciplinary Care form
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of proper usage of all forms, flow charts, and logbooks.

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program


Required License:

  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner through the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care Required



  • BLS Required
  • CRT Required
  • RRT Preferred
