Responsible for raising major gifts of $10,000+, from a portfolio of approximately 125 individual prospects and donors.



  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward portfolio of approximately 125 individual prospects and donors.
  • Manage Philanthropy Council(s), or volunteer committee(s), which govern all philanthropic activity in, and supports a priority medical area.
  • Plan prospect management strategies known as “Moves Managements” to advance relationships with individuals in prospect pool and secure major gifts.
  • Engage collaboratively with annual fund, major and planned giving officers to develop pipeline of prospects supporting current and future strategic funding priorities.
  • Establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships with department chairs, physicians, administrators, managers, trustees, and community volunteers to engage them in the major gifts development process.
  • Work with the communications team to prepare case statements, proposals, and printed materials in support of fundraising efforts.
  • Acquire a strong understanding and knowledge of those clinical services being supported.
  • Work with the administrative and clinical leadership in assigned medical area to determine their respective annual and long-range funding priorities.
  • Develop annual fundraising program plan and goals for medical area of responsibility.
  • Work with the Donor Relations Manager to ensure development of timely and effective stewardship reports and activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of major gift activity and fundraising status in database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Work with the Donor Research Manager to ensure that thorough and timely prospect and donor research is provided.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent



  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, self confidence and assertiveness, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgment, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the Health Foundation to external audiences through the use of strong verbal and written skills.
  • Requires strong organizational skills and good computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel outside the office within the hospital’s regional service areas, and to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Minimum of five years fundraising/major gifts experience
