Atlantic Health System is seeking aPer Diem Clinical Dieticianat Newton Medical Center.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Maintains standards of the Food Service Department clinical program and those set by the hospital, the New Jersey Department of Health and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
  • Evaluates appropriateness of diet prescription utilizing subjective and objective patient data.
  • Consults with physician and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients.
  • Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of the patient.
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient population including pediatrics, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Develops and implements nutrition care plan.
  • Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation.
  • Visits patients regularly to ascertain diet adherence, meal tolerance, and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintains registration status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and knowledge of current advances in the field of nutrition.
  • Maintains accurate records to meet regulatory agency guidelines and assists in statistical analysis of data.
  • Adheres to established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.
  • Consults with local nutrition clinics and community agencies as indicated.
  • Participates in the hospital community as a nutrition advocate and educator.
  • Works with and at the direction of the Clinical Nutrition Manager to complete other tasks deemed necessary for the proper functioning of the department.
  • Will be responsible for writing Diet Orders according to AHS policy.





  • Bachelor's Degree




  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
