Overview

Hospital Revenue Cycle Application Analyst is responsible for providing solutions and application support for Epic modules in the Hospital Billing product group, which comprises of Hospital Billing, Home Health Billing and Hospice Billing. Understanding of Hospital Revenue Cycle operational workflows is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-depth analysis of Patient Financial Services workflows and provides solutions for any technical issues with Epic software in the areas of Hospital Revenue Cycle such as CDM, Charge router, DNB, Claims, Insurance follow ups, Denials, Payor/plans, GL, extracts, Statements, Bad debt etc.
  • Understands and analyzes business operations as they relate to software design and build decisions.
  • Drives optimization projects in Hospital Billing and Claims applications and provides reporting solutions in terms of dashboards and Reporting Workbench reports in Epic.
  • Accounts for end user preferences while making build decisions, populates the Epic databases during initial build with assistance from Epic.
  • Coordinates software updates and changes.
  • Analyzes new functionality in Epic Releases and determines how it should be used.
  • Develops and documents procedures for system use by the business.
  • Analyzes data conversion needs.
  • Maintains good communication with Epic representatives and works with the finance division to assure the system meets business needs.
  • Participates in and conducts end user training.
  • Possesses the following capabilities:

Functions in a central role during issue escalation and resolution, collaborating with multiple teams as applicable. Facilitates change management through established communication methods. Shares pertinent changes to end users. Responsive to email communication in accordance with organizational email etiquette policy.
    • Priorities - Works independently and effectively manages time and multiple priorities and projects.
    • Documentation - Creates and maintains clear, concise documentation related to work requests, incidents, status reports, and basic system related tasks. Supports and collaborates with peers to document incidents, break/fix resolutions and audits as needed. Recommends standards for improvement of documentation.
    • Teamwork/Collaboration - Demonstrates self-direction. Works well under time constraints. Collaborates with other teams across the department with minimal supervision.
    • Leadership - Represents the team at meetings in accordance with PRIDE values.
    • Drive - Demonstrates self-motivated and independent decision making with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Epic Hospital Billing Administration certification or Epic Claims Administration certification required 

 

 Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience within information technology or a hospital billing office
  • Experience with hospital billing system build and configuration
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of hospital billing practices and principles
  • Demonstrated ability to gather information from multiple sources and analyze applicability and appropriateness, and develop an efficient workflow
  • Experience with organizational strategies, business operations, and end-user requirements to develop system design and training projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and change management skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships
