Overview

Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a Full Time Medical Laboratory Scientist II for Chilton Medical Center to work nights including every other weekend.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities of Position:

  • Rotate working in chemistry, hematology/coagulation, blood bank and as needed.
  • Perform testing in the laboratory and report results according to SOP. Verifies validity of results prior to reporting by observing established quality control criteria prior to reporting. Produces results that meet established departmental standards for accuracy and precision with minimal repetition or problems.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
  • Perform quality control tasks and maintain laboratory documentation according to SOP.
  • Maintain and manage laboratory inventory.
  • Provide laboratory information to others on the patient care team.
  • Maintain competencies and continuing education.
  • Demonstrates high level technical, interpretive and evaluation skills.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution. Foreign graduates require equivalency evaluation documentation.

  • ASCP certification or eligible preferred

Requirements:

  • Basic to Intermediate laboratory skills acquired through experience or clinical training

  • Blood Bank experience preferred
