Overview

 

 

Atlantic Health System is seeking an experienced full-time Risk Manager for Risk Management- Corp., to work from 8:00am - 4:00pm including on-call and weekends as required by department. The Risk Management duties will cover our Newton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center (can sit in either location).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the investigation, management and reporting of clinical events consistent with the NJ Patient Safety Act and AHS Policies
  • Will work with clinical and administrative leadership on patient safety issues
  • Respond to significant occurrences; review facts; review medical record/documentation; preserve any evidence; interview staff
  • Provide recommendations to staff re: investigation/handling of event to appropriate management, administrators
  • Refer to peer review, Quality & Outcomes Management, Committees to address as appropriate
  • Review incidents and identify potential claims/lawsuits
  • Prepare potential files, document factual investigation of event
  • Review incident and determine whether constitutes Serious Preventable Event under the Patient Safety Act
  • Submit initial notification of SPE to DHSS
  • Organize and facilitate Root Cause Analysis meeting with health care providers involved to identify contributing factors to the event and develop corrective action
  • Present case to Preventable Events Review Committee
  • Advise site nursing staff, medical staff and administration on billing, insurance, risk management, corporate compliance, EMTALA, and other regulatory concerns
  • Provide in-service training, education to nursing staff, medical staff, residency staff, as requested
  • Review events, edit as appropriate, close events
  • Prepare Quarterly unit reports
  • Provide training to nursing staff, medical staff, and residency staff on use of program
  • Coordinate and facilitate investigations (DHSS)
  • Prepare and submit material to agency and respond to deficiencies in collaboration with affected department/unit managers

Qualifications

Education:

  • BSN required

Certification:

  • National certification preferred

Relevant Experience:

  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to create powerpoint presentations and excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team member; strong work ethic; 5 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Management and/or Risk Management experience
  • 7+ years experience relevant to the description of this job
