The Womens Health  team are seeking to hire an OBGYN  Hospitalists at  Overlook Medical Center .  The OBGYN Hospitalists will be responsible for management of Maternity and GYN patients only.  The role wil maintain a collaborative relationship with voluntary medical staff members, AMG physicians, and nursing. 


Award winning Overlook Medical Center is a 500 + bed hospital in beautiful Summit, NJ .  The town is known for the high ranking school system and proximity to NYC.



Responsibilities and Duties : 




  1. High Reliability Position
  • Unit leader/Role model
  • Prioritization of safety
  • Proactive behavior with continual presence on the unit
  • Situational awareness with anticipation, early detection and response to prevent catastrophic consequences
  • Collaborative relationship with voluntary medical staff members, AMG physicians, nursing and residents
  1. Management of Maternity Patients:
  • Documentation and introduction to all patients on L&D 
  • Involvement, including examination and documentation of in-person exams on patients who have or develop a complication during their admission; this should occur several times during the day.
  • Management involvement on all patients on L&D and Mother/Baby who undergo a significant change in clinical status and documentation of the events and the intervention
  • Collaboration and involvement with providers regarding care of the patients with documentation of conversations/management plans
  • Documentation of in-person exams of patients 
  1. Management of Gyn patients/ ER Coverage:
  • Responsibility for consults and management of Gyn patients
  • Documentation of care of these patients, including plan of care and in-person examinations
  • Documentation of in-person exams. 
  1. Evidence based care
  • System-wide Protocols and Guidelines established should be followed
  • Participation in the OB Collaborative workgroups
  1. Professionalism:
  • Presence and involvement in Board sign over AM and PM as determined by work hours
  • Board sign over should be confined to patient care discussions
  • Presence and involvement in Briefs
  • Presence and involvement in Category II Huddles/pre-C/S huddles and post-C/S huddles as applicable
  • Arrival to work on time as based on shift expectation



  • Experienced Physicians 
  • Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • NJ licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ


Maintain adequate CME credits to fulfill the requirements of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Hospital Medical Staff By-laws and Department rules and regulations

Maintain Board Certification as required by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hospital Medical Staff By-laws and Department rules and regulations

Assist in ensuring the services continuously represent “state of the art” care

Serve as principal and co-investigator for departmental clinical studies as mutually agreed

Review hospital records for quality and assurance purposes
