Atlantic Health System has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Diagnostic Medical Physicist to join the Radiation Physics & Safety Team at Morristown Medical Center.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a QA program that includes testing all imaging devices consistent with regulatory & accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor radiation dosimetry for personnel.
  • Review & approve policies and procedures.
  • Consult in equipment planning.
  • Perform acceptance testing as needed, ensuring State, ACR, MQSA & Joint Commission compliance.
  • Perform radiation shielding calculations.
  • Monitor patient dosimetry.
  • Educate staff & physicians as needed.
  • Teach Physics as part of the Radiology Resident Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Primary coverage will be at Morristown Medical Center, with cross-coverage for other AHS facilities.
  • This position will report to the Manager/Chief Physicist.
  • Manage the Radiation Safety Program as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at some of the AHS facilities, ensure compliance with regulations on radioactive material use and x-ray equipment, and provide 24/7 radiation safety support during emergent situations.




  • MS in Medical Physics (or related field) 

Required License/Certification:

  • ABR certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics or Nuclear Medical Physics or ABMP certification in Diagnostic Imaging Physics 

Related Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience required  
  • Must be qualified as an RSO as per NRC regulations  
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications
  • Excellent communication skills
