Overview

Overlook Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Technician for the Mother Baby Unit/Maternity working flex shifts, including every other weekend. 

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes paging system and responds promptly to patient calls
  • Works in EPIC within scope of practice
  • Assists patient with activities of daily living, such as administering baths, oral hygiene, peri-care etc.
  • Administers basic treatment measures and record in EMR: patients’ vital signs, I/O, weight, simple dressing changes, discontinues Foley catheters and IVs, supervises incentive spirometry, performs 12 lead EKGs, phlebotomy, glucometers, etc.
  • Observes and maintains isolation precautions
  • Performs non-patient, unit specific duties. Maintains neat environment. Stock supplies. Assist with Transporting patients. Performs other duties and errands as requested. Keeps hallways, dirty utility room, supply room and linen room free from obstructions and clutter
  • Maintains a safe environment. Adheres to OSHA, JCAHO national patient safety goals, Board of Health, and hospital standards and requirements. Participates in yearly validations of unit skills. Maintains clean and safe environment for patients and staff in accordance with hospital policies and other regulatory agencies. Checks for patient identification prior to any intervention. Maintains equipment: Thermometers, B/P Machines, BG Machines, Pulse oximeters etc. Accounts for equipment prior to leaving and ensures that it is ready for the next shift
  • Patient Satisfaction Consistently responds to patients/families in a courteous and positive manner. Consistently responds to patients’ needs in a timely manner. Consistently respects the patients right to privacy and dignity. Consistently respects the patients’ rights to confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines. Fosters a positive and pleasant environment, which promotes our shared values

Qualifications

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as an inpatient PCT preferred
