Atlantic Health System is seeking a Foundation Gift Officer will be responsible for engaging mid-level donors, encouraging renewal/retention of annual giving donors, identifying prospects who have the capacity to give at the major gift levels (10k+), and work collaboratively with the AG and MG teams to manage mid-level donors. The Gift Officer is a part of the major gift team and is responsible for a portfolio of prospects/donors, and will also support the CDO with pipeline management and AHS fundraising opportunities. The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with individuals that in turn, will strengthen the pipeline for future leadership and major gifts.



  • Frontline fundraising/prospect outreach: identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward portfolio of individual leadership and major gift prospects and donors. Include renewal and retention as a primary focus.
  • Through face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors, assess their capacity and inclination to make an investment in MMC that aligns with the organization’s strategic priorities and future needs.
  • Engage collaboratively with annual fund, major and planned giving officers to develop pipeline of prospects supporting current and future strategic funding priorities.
  • Transition high potential donors and prospects to major gift officers as they align with MMC Centers of Excellence.
  • Acquire a strong understanding and knowledge of those broad clinical services being supported at MMC.
  • Responsible for coordinating fundraising metrics to focus on moves management and shared metrics.
  • Support Chief Development Center in portfolio management.
  • Establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships with clinician champions, hospital staff/managers, trustees, and community volunteers to engage them in the individual giving development process.
  • Engage with the communications team to prepare case statements, proposals, and printed materials in support of fundraising efforts.
  • Continual communication with the Donor Relations Manager to ensure development of timely and effective stewardship reports and activities.
  • Collaborate with the Research Manager to prepare brief initial research for initial qualification meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of individual gift activity and fundraising status in database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Provide support for Atlantic Health System fundraising initiatives, including managing processes, collaborating with internal teams, and communicating priorities.




  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, self confidence and assertiveness, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgement, and respect for confidentiality
  • Ability to represent the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center to external audiences through the use of strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong organizational skills and good computer skills required, Raisers Edge experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel outside the office within the hospital's regional service areas, and to work evenings and weekends as needed

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent 

Relevant Experience:

  • 1+ year of development experience strongly preferred
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Proactive team player with a positive attitude and sense of humor
