Overview

Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a Full-Time Supervisor for Histology at the Atlantic Consolodated Lab in Morris Plains to work 4pm to 12am 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities of Position:

  • In conjunction with the Laboratory Manager, manage day to day operation of the histology department on the evening shift. Assign, oversee, and review the work of employees. Direct all phases of work, quality, service, and including perform assays as required
    • Manage the day to day operations of the evening shift in Histology
    • Staff supervision including but not limited to training, competency assessment
    • Annual employee performance evaluations
    • Hold staff meetings and maintain minutes
    • Produce, monitor and maintain productivity, quality and TAT metrics
    • Prepare and revise SOP’s and manuals
    • Oversee and perform histology work – grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, QA, IHC
    • Maintain all quality and service standards
    • Participation in inventory management
    • Documentation and timely completion of special projects
    • Troubleshoot technical, equipment and computer related problems
    • Validation of methodology and instrumentation
    • Laboratory Inspection, preparation and readiness

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • BS/BA Degree with minimum 1-3 years of histology supervisory experience. Must meet all College of American Pathologists (CAP) and CLIA requirements
  • (HT)/(HTL) ASCP or similar nationally recognized certification preferred

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Six years successful experience as a Histology Technologist
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Dependable, flexible and adaptable in all aspects of work, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional analytical, technical, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior time management and critical thinking skills
  • Good working knowledge of computers; proficient in MS office applications preferred
