Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Biomedical Technician II that will be focusing on Initial installations of medical equipment and systems. This will be a local (between our Northern NJ medical facilities) traveling position. 

Responsibilities

  • Possesses understanding and skills related to general medical equipment systems and devices
  • Possesses understanding of medical PC and peripherals
  • Significant working knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology with emphasis in clinical application and troubleshooting
  • Possesses the ability to follow manufacturer's procedures for preventive maintenance inspection, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operation verification procedures on medical equipment including but not limited to physiologic monitors, infusion devices, defibrillators, ESUs and general medical equipment
  • Repair, install, and calibrate complex and intricate medical equipment
  • Exhibits understanding and can demonstrate use of all required hand tools and test equipment for medical equipment, including but not limited to: digital multi meter, electrical safety analyzer, pressure measuring gauges, ESU analyzer, defibrillator tester, patient simulator and infusion pump tester
  • Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual medical equipment situations, and any customer concerns
  • Work with, document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery and vendor documentation
  • Develop biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Exhibits understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported
  • Can provide support of non-high risk and basic support for high risk medical equipment for direct patient care
  • Possesses understanding of the daily operations of the departments supported. (hospital, clinic, offsite locations, etc.)
  • Possesses experience in their assigned clinical environment
  • Prepare to assume 24-hour on-call repair responsibilities
  • Current understanding and use of Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), The Joint Commission, NFPA and other regulatory agencies' standards
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, preventive maintenance schedules, nomenclature, and service history
  • Ensures service completed and documentation submitted is accurate, complete and timely
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve complex service line customer service problems
  • Interacts with customers in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates the ability to elicit information from customers as needed for troubleshooting and general support
  • Develop and maintain positive clinical relationships with staff, department representatives and/or equipment users
  • Possesses knowledge of clinical equipment systems. (laboratory systems, networked medical equipment systems, connected medical equipment etc.)
  • Project Related Responsibilities
    • Required to travel to multiple hospital and off-site locations
    • Experience in inventory of equipment and incoming inspections
    • Ability to follow network cabling diagrams and documents to build out server cabinets and data racks
  • Possesses knowledge of project management terms and methods

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Science or Technology (BMET/EET) or military trained (BMET) Biomedical Equipment Technician required

License/Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+ preferred

Relevant Experience:

  • 3+ Years of Experience in Field
