Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Medical Laboratory Scientist I in the Transfusion Services department at Chilton Medical Center to work flexible hours including every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing in the laboratory and report results according to SOP
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment
  • Perform quality control tasks and maintain laboratory documentation according to SOP
  • Maintain and manage laboratory inventory
  • Provide laboratory information to others on the patient care team
  • Maintain competencies and continuing education

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution highly preferred
  • Foreign graduates require equivalency evaluation documentation

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications:

  • ASCP or equivalent certification preferred

Relevant Experience:

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred
  • Previous blood bank experience highly preferred 
  • New MLS/CLS graduates welcome
