Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Unit for Glasser Brain Tumor Center at Overlook Medical Center to work 8AM-4PM.  

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

  • Taking vitals ,history, medication review, allergies, and entering into medical record
  • Able to contact and coordinate care with various departments such as; neurosurgery, radiation oncology, lab, and infusion center .
  •  Understand basic CNS anatomy , primary tumors , key pathology markers
  • Understand neurologic symptoms and "red flags"to report 
  • Order and schedule any additional imaging studies with appropriate departments; MRI, Vascular, CT, PFTs
  • Coordinate infusions and intrathecal chemotherapy
  • Understanding primary drugs : Temozolomide, Procarbazine, CCNU, Vincristine, and Avastin
  • Understand treatment plans and monitoring for temozolomide,PCV, CCNU, and Avastin
  • Comfortable teaching treatment plans and chemotherapy to patients/families
  • Work collaboratively with Social Worker/Neurosurgical team to engage patients and families
  • Candidate will have the ability to utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients served.
  • Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
  • Candidate will demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values (Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity and Excellence) in every aspect of their job.
  • RN position will lead daily clinics, collaborating with provider and support staff responsible for medication pre-authorizations, disability paperwork, triaging patients

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required 
  • BSN required
  • Masters Degree preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting preferred
  • Outpatient nursing experience preferred
  • Oncology and/or Neurology experience preferred

Licenses/Certification:

  • Valid New Jersey Nursing License Required
  • BLS Certification Required
  • OCN Specialty Certification Preferred

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have excellent communication and computer skills.
