Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a per diem Monitor Technician for 2 West/ 2 Hussey at Newton Medical Center, to work varied shift including 2 weekend shift per scheduling. 

Responsibilities

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

  • Assigns an available telemetry number to patient, as ordered.
  • Clears memory and adjusts alarm parameters and arrhythmic functions in collaboration with the assigned nurse.
  • Labels the monitor holder with the patient name, room number and physician.
  • Maintains a log sheet noting patient name, room number, date telemetry applied and date telemetry discontinued.
  • Requests nurse to check lead placement if it is in question.
  • Builds sample strip on patient in patient history; runs an admission strip marked Admission Strip documenting date, time, and PR, QRS, QT and rhythm.
  • Observes continuously all monitored patients at the central monitor, arranging for appropriate.
  • Keeps all safety alarms on at all times. Receives reports from the off-going shift and follows up on any problems reported.
  • Documents telemetry rhythm strips and interpretations every eight hours and when changes occur in patient status.
  • Documentation should include: date, time, PR interval, QRS measurement, QT, rhythm and any other ectopy.
  • Documents arrhythmias as they occur.
  • Documentation should include: date, time, PR interval, QRS measurement, QT, ectopy, who was notified, and what treatment to ordered/completed.
  • Runs and posts continuous strip for life threatening arrhythmias, codes, and IV medications when requested by the Registered Nurse or physician.
  • Checks each shift that the patient name, room number, and telemetry number coincide.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required

Minimum Experience:

  • Current Monitor Tech experience preferred
