Overview

AHS is looking for a dedicated individual to join our IT Team as the Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO). The responsibilities of the PMO Manager include managing the day-to-day activities in the PMO, providing guidance on PMO policies and processes, overseeing project management staff, and collaborating with other department leaders to develop projects and programs. The candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills and should be well organized and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects.
  • Overseeing the development of the project team and ensuring that members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards.
  • Drafting new and improving existing project management office policies and processes.
  • Continuously evaluating projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines.
  • Mentor and coach project managers to successfully deliver solutions.
  • Exhibit critical thinking by seeing outcomes and providing direction when there are multiple stakeholders and solutions
  • Demonstrate consultative skills in solving problems by using technical and business insight to inform the facilitation of developing objectives and approach
  • Negotiate competing requirements across business owners and set project direction with business leaders and delivery leads
  • Operates under deadlines and challenging workloads.
  • Analyzing financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Developing and providing portfolio reports to executive leadership

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree or and  equivalent work experience and relevant experience.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or formal coursework/training in project management. 

 Requirements:

  • Twelve (12)+ years of relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of advanced education and relevant experience and/or training
  • Proven ability to analyze, integrate, recommend, contribute to the development of conceptual plans for, and lead implement of, strategic, process, and team improvement and change initiatives cross-functionally
  • Effective at energizing others, establishing clear goals, delegating responsibility, mentoring and coaching within a team setting
  • Demonstrates situational leadership and creative problem solving within department and teams
  • Able to understand project details, but keep the overall “big picture” view of projects, priorities, and strategies
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Knows when and how to speak up and appropriately raise issues to the team and to management. Keeps both team members, departmental colleagues (as appropriate), and management fully apprised of project initiative status and issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and change management skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships
  • Strong analysis, design and implementation experience with technology projects. Extensive knowledge of planning and operations, design and deployment
  • Prior Healthcare a plus
