Atlantic Health is Seeking a Medical Oncologist for a Great Opportunity in Morristown, New Jersey
Atlantic Health System, one of the largest non-profit healthcare networks in New Jersey, is seeking specialty-focused Medical Oncologists to join our expanding oncology practice in Morristown, NJ! This employed role is ideal for ambitious and skilled specialists to join a busy medical oncology practice at Morristown Medical Center.
The medical team consists of a dynamic group of board-certified cancer specialists who have advanced medical training in treating cancer, and share a vision of providing patient-focused, multidisciplinary, superlative cancer care. Our team of oncologists and hematologists work with other specialists to coordinate unified comprehensive care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy, along with supportive care services.
These are academic oriented positions, not generalist positions in typical community practice. Successful candidates will have specialty focus in an area of cancer care, and a desire to actively participate in clinical care, clinical/translational research, and resident/fellow education.
With over 90 clinical trials open for cancer patients, Atlantic Health System (AHS) Cancer Care has an extensive research focus, beyond what is typically seen in a community institution. Its research team leads the Breakthrough Oncology Accelerator, a unique partnership with researchers at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix, Arizona. This collaboration provides patients and physicians access to cutting edge clinical cancer research, exploring such areas as precision oncology, immunotherapy, gene therapy, and cellular therapy (including CAR-T and tumor infiltrating lymphocyte) clinical trials. The Accelerator operates a dedicated Phase 1 (developmental therapeutics) research and infusion center at Morristown Medical Center, adjacent to the research pharmacy and complete with infusion chairs, laboratory, and pathology services.
In addition, Atlantic Health System is the lead site for the Atlantic Health Cancer Consortium Community Oncology Research Program, one of only 32 National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) sites in the United States. This five-hospital consortium provides access to all NCI clinical trials, including several available only through the NCORP program.
AHS Cancer Care also provides teaching and educational opportunities for its faculty. Its ACGME-approved combined hematology oncology fellowship program gets well over 300 applicants per year. The fellowship training includes some unique opportunities available through TGen and its laboratories. There are several other training programs at Morristown Medical Center, including residencies in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, radiology, and others. Through regional affiliations, medical students rotate on the clinical services. The Cancer Care program also puts on several well-attended CME events annually: Post-ASCO, Post-ASH, Post-San Antonio Breast Cancer, GI. Melanoma, Head and neck, and others.
